It's Amazing!

Here are excerpts from Lindsey’s first email about her first week in the England MTC:

The first week was incredible! I love it here. The spirit here is so amazing.
Sisters Abeling and Barnes; two peas in a pod!
My companion is awesome!!!! Her name is Sister Barnes and she’s from Utah. Talk about the Lord knowing you so personally. She and I are a lot alike and get along really well. She is perfect for me! Sister Barnes enjoys running as much as me so we go running around the MTC so we are getting our exercise in!

Sister Barnes and I have been called as the Sister Training Leaders which means we are responsible for all the sisters in the MTC. Though it’s a big responsibility and has kept us on our toes and busy, it’s been so rewarding. In fact, one of the sisters needs to take her endowments out today and we get to go  with her to the temple and be her guides. Seeing the temple every day is seriously amazing! It's really neat the feeling you get here. It's so peaceful.

The sisters here are amazing; they're so valiant and sweet! It's so great to be surrounded by different cultures and languages. Our district all speaks French except for Sister Barnes, one other sister and I, so I've been learning French! Pretty cool, go to England and learn French!

My most spiritual experience this week has been the revelation I’ve received for other people, which is something new for me!  God has always talked to me in an extremely quiet voice, and as you all know, I can’t hear well so I never hear small voices or sounds! Haha! But I've never received so much revelation as I have here and never loud and direct. This week has truly been amazing!

I’m learning a lot, especially about the awesome country I’m serving in. England, well let’s just say, you gotta like the rain! It’s rained every day, but it’s actually not all that bad. Just glad I brought vitamin D with me! Interestingly, the culture is very different from home…a bit of a surprise to me. The biggest thing is their sense of humor  I've cracked at least 20 something jokes and only one person laughed, and that was my companion – she had to! Haha! So not only am I bringing the gospel, but maybe some laughter, too.  I'm also finding out that some of our normal American words and gestures are offensive here, so learning all the proper ways here!
Still not a fan of fish and chips!

The food here is interesting and as picky as I am, I’ll definitely need to get use to it! Ya'll be proud, I tried fish and chips; still not a fan!

I've learned a lot about my mission president and he sounds like he’s really chill and fun; I can’t wait to meet him.

It would be great to get letters while I’m here in the MTC! And it would be cool if you could send letters to Sister Barnes. Her family are not members so the extra encouragement would help her! :) Here’s the MTC address:

I love it here! I've grown to love the Lord and the Savior so much and learned how to shut up and listen to the spirit. Its crazy that I can feel so much growth in just a week, but with such a strong spirit here, you can’t help but grow!

I love you all so very much!!! I can't wait to share this experience with you all!

Love your little Brit,
Sister Abeling
